I would really like to learn more about how to teach Studies of Asia in a more ICT friendly manner. I would like to be able to plan engaging units of work for secondary school students and to collect valuable resources to share with my colleagues.

Goals for ICT and Studies of Asia:
To gather resources and information for different learning areas and learn how to integrate these resources into classroom use in a secondary situation.
To become familiar with a variety of web tools and to be able utilise these in the classroom.
I want to gain knowledge about good ICT resources for the classroom.
We should make a time to get together and plan some ideas for our classroom.
I am hoping to learn more about how to use ICT in my classroom. I already have a class blog set up but I would like to be able to share it with more people and countries overseas.

Learn about integrating studies of Asia into the curriculum. Acquire more knowledge about Web 2.0 tools and their use in achieving this goal.
I want to be able to use blogs within my everyday teaching connecting the students with ICT.
I am a graduate teacher so I have limited experience within this area and want to learn how to start up a blog, how to use them and see how others have incorporated this into their teaching.
Hi Chloe – do you already have a class space? Welcome – limited experience is not a problem. Our first activity will get you viewing what other teachers have done.
Hi Chloe – I’m also a graduate teacher. I have set up a class blog with my grade 2 class this year and the kids love it!
No we do not have a class space but this is something that I have been thinking about doing.
I’m in the same boat Chloe.
I currently teach grade 1/2s at Wandong Primary School. I teach ICT once a week with my grade. I also use ICT within Literacy, Numeracy and Integrated study sessions.
I hope to find out new and safe programs to use with my students and possibly how to get them online more often at school and at home.
I would love to be able to assign home learning and projects on a blog or website where all students (and parents) can access any information about the class.

As Humanities LAM at the College I would really like to find some exciting ways of incorporating Asian Studies for our secondary students. Personally, I would really like to know more about setting up wikis and blogs. I would like to share this with my colleagues and look at setting up a site at the College, possibly in conjunction with our sister school in Malaysia.
Great to share your learning with colleagues and connecting with a sister school is a great idea.
I work as a Bilingual teacher and I hope to learn how to set up my own blog and expand on my knowledge of how to implement ICT within the language classroom.
I am a music teacher at Benalla College. I am enrolling in the ALTQP course beginning in January. I am hoping to find some resources and ideas that can help me with the course and also find resources that can be useful at school teaching both music and Indonesian. I’ll be able to share this with the other teachers that I will be working with throughout my course.
Maybe we can work together in terms of Indonesian.
All the teachers that are enrolling in the course from here are supposed to be getting planning time to work together, so we’ll try to keep you up to date with what we are doing.
Hi Natalie – lots of great podcasts and audio resources so make that a target goal for yourself. Also when we get to Diigo, see if there is a group of music and Indonesian teachers.
I haven’t used much ICT in my classes(Japanese) in the past. As so many students are familiar with ICT and they are interested in it, I thought introducing the new area will help them learning. I’d like to learn more skills on this area in the next 2 days. e.g. ideas that I can use in classrooms. I’ve just started to use the interactive whiteboard but I haven’t got much experience. Only I can think at the moment is that using it as showing website on it.
I’m a graduate teacher at Euroa Secondary College and I teach LOTE(Japanese) and Humanities to year 7 and 8. My students have netbook and love to use them in the class, but I haven’t used them much other than doing research or making documents. So I’d like to learn how to use ICT more effective in my class.
To be more familiar with the various tools that support Studies of Asia-ICT throughout the curriculum.
I would like to learn some ideas I can use for my primary teaching. Some activities using ICT as well individual research task. I have only once a week face to face time with students and computer access is not easy for whole class use at once. I teach Japanese.

This is the workshop that I’ve been waiting for. I wish to explore more about how to use ICT in teaching and learning especially relates to Asia studies. I have huge interest to ICT but sometimes don’t know where to start. I think I need some practical tips and strategies on useful ‘ICT stuff’ for teaching, for example: information about useful ICT website for teaching, how to use blog for education purposes, etc.
To become more au fait with current ICT to better support students in a secondary setting -especially those from refugee backgrounds.
I am currently involved in a study with Melb. Uni whose aims are developing intercultural understanding and informing the new Australian Curriculum. I have recently been to India as part of this study. We have instigated a ‘change team’ of teachers and children at school who are driving change with the school and community. I would like to use my new understandings and contacts more effectively using ICT. Our school also has a sister school in Indonesia and would like to develop this relationship through ICT. Currently we are recording ‘snapshots’ of the everyday life of an Australian student over a week and using the flip camera and am sending this to the teachers from Indonesia as a reciprocal activity. I use ICT as an integral part of my classroom practice in my grade 5/6 room however I would like to further investigate how this could be used to enrich the learning of my students developing links with them and the outside community.

all our students will have netbooks next year and i need to know how to alter my teaching to accommodate and get the best use out of this new situation.
