initial post

I am unsure how we will use My Place at Firbank. We will probably fall within the Minimal Participation level at this stage. I could use it with my Year 7 students who are beginning studies in Geography.

Learning

I am keen to improve my skills- a constant endeavor. I am very keen to get a bigger picture of how these technologies can be used more effectively. I am enjoying viewing people’s efforts. Gail

AISV Summit

I have many points of interest for this summit.

  • to make greater use of the interactive whiteboard in all areas of the curriculum at year 5
  • to set up a class blog my students can use this term during our unit about the human body/puberty/leadership
  • to learn how to use & develop podcasts

What I want from this summit!

I want to be able to use technology to create rich, relevant and meaningful learning activities for my students.

Project: Year 12 French

I hope to create a blog fro my Year 12 French class, on which my students will be able to:

* find and post info

* receive news (rss?)

* communicate

…in French

… on the following topic: French Identity

Is a blog the best tool to do that?

What I’d like to achieve!

Jenny Luca - Toorak College

I’d like to establish where I’m going with this project and how it can link into my role within the school. The students at our school (I think!) see the library as being connected with new technologies and are amenable to being involved in learning new technologies from within the library. I’d like to find a way to have students engage in discussions with other students about ideas that are posted on the myplace page. Is there a way to have a library class portal where interested students from differing year levels can interact with the page during out of class hours (Recess and lunchtime for example). Alternatively, or perhaps additional to, I’d like to establish a class portal for my Yr 7 tutorial group and we could use it as a means of exploring issues of interest that could prompt discussion. My tutorial time is limited but I could see it working.

AISV Summit

My PuppyOur goal is to look at ways that we can compliment our current Year 6 notebook program.

We are particularly interested in looking at resources, especially webquests, which relate to our two Integrated units ‘Robotics’ and a comparison between China and Australia.

We are also looking for general resources that link to other aspects of our curriculum.
