We are ‘Making A Difference’

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Last week our group at Toorak Collage took up the challenge of  “Make a Difference” to raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves. We discussed our options of what we could do and this week we have put our plan into action. We have organised to have a raffle with prizes of hampers with donated gifts. The selling of tickets is to start next week and we will be making sure that those who purchase tickets are aware of where their money is going to. We are hoping to raise enough money to purchase various items and gifts through World Vision for those in 3rd world countries. I urge others to ‘Make A Difference’. It’s a great feeling to know you have.

Thanks Charlie

PS. Bec Breadmore is definitely the coolest of the coolest at the top of the charts, along with Ella.

i think toorak college’s effort to raise money is a really good idea. we all want to help impovished children and a fundraiser is a really good way to start.

Our blogging group is raising money for under privileged people. We are having a raffle to try and raise enough money to by a goat, immunizations or even food.  We have run it passed our vice principal but we are still in the planning stage. The raffle starts next week and we are hoping that everyone will help. So maybe at your school you could organise a fundraiser for people who are not as fortunate.

                        thanks guys

14 year olds making a difference !

Hey you,

Have you ever imagined that you personally would make a difference, well if the answer is no then we are on the same page. I never thought that me and my classmates would ever have the chance to make a realy difference in the World. But now thanks to the connections at Toorak College we have the chance. We are all going to collect many donations and make up big hampers, we are going to sell raffel tickets for $1 and then at the end (next Friday) we will be drawing the raffle and people will win big hampers and we hopefully will have made enough money to make a difference for the children, teenagers, adults and older people in a third world country.

Hopefully you will also have the chance to make a real big difference in the World.

Good luck to all !!

Inspirational effort!

The Toorak College bloggers have been an inspiration. The challenge was posted here and they have responded. I’ll let our participants tell you about their efforts in posts that they will make. I just want you all to know how proud I am of them and the great work they have done to get their charitable good deeds off and running. Well done everyone.

hey we (toorak college girls blogging group) have decided that we are going to raise money to buy an animal or something useful for a poor and needy community in a third world country. Most likely India because we have a connection with India. We are not quite sure whether we are going to have a free dress day where you have to bring a gold coin donation r whether we will do something simplier like a cake stall during lunchtime.

Whatever we do we hope (you all) and everyone supports us with what we are doing.

We are taking on the challenge but can you do it . . . . because at the moment we Toorak College seem to be the only ones oing something about it, why don’t you and your school try doing something like this and we could join together and make a real big difference.

We know that sometimes people say ‘oh we are going to raise money for a community in India’ but that never appens. This is not us we are *commited and *excited to be actually MAKING A DIFFERENCE . . . . . . . . . . . !!!

Raising Money

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Toorak College has decided to accept the challenge that was given to us. We plan to raise money to purchase something for the children in India. I think it is a really good idea, we have all learned a lot more about all the money we waste on little things and by doing this challenge we have found that for twelve people, raising $190 is a small achievement but to a family in a third world country it can buy something great such as a pig or a goat, which to them is priceless. It gives you a great sense of happinnes to do such a small thing that can make so many people happy and it would be great if more people can do it.

WE DARE YOU

After our Library teacher read us Toms post (see Here’s a Friendly Challenge…) Our school has decided to get our act together and raise some money to buy a beneficial gift for the people in a third world counrty. We are still to decide what and to whom our gift will go to, but we will assure it does reach our chosen place.

So many different ideas for fundraisers have been thrown around and are really dead set on getting this up and going.

We’ve taken on the challenge….can you?
