Hi! Great to work with you today.

My basic premise is that ICTs can promote Real, Rich and Relevant learning. In addition, newer “web 2.0″ applications can “super-charge” learning even farther. The caveat is that if we don’t take this opportunity, the same applications can be used by students to side-step learning and even threaten their positive experience of life.

“Web 2.0 Goes to School”

Technologies in the next 10 years will equip students to supercharge or side-step classroom learning. Both will happen. You get to choose which side you’re on.

Open Source Learning

You might also like to explore CEQALL and the project MyPlace (years 5 - 10). The last section provides some links to interesting readings. Choose what’s most interesting to you. Stow the togs and swap the thongs, it’s school time again.

Teachers participating in workshops with Tom March are encouraged to register their interests with a  questionnaire.  This will facilitate working together online and in future face-to-face sessions.  Thanks.

ClassAct PortalHosting and open source software have come a long way in the past year. Costs are down and easy functionality are up. Now is the time for all educators to develop into “cutting edge-ucators.” Combining smart technology with smart integration sets us all on this journey into the Web’s second decade (2nd10). To help this happen, Tom March has made available a chapter from a handbook on setting up your own ClassAct Portal (pdf download). This step-by-step guide has been very popular at conferences and workshops.
